A Friendly Engagement is a sweet story. Christine Warner's story of co-workers discovering love is entertaining. Omar thrusts Devi into an awkward situation that evolves into more than either expected. Yes, this is a concept that has be done before by many different authors. Yes, there are some glitches along the way. Yet for me the story worked. Omar and Devi obviously cared about each other and to me that's all that mattered. Received an ARC for an honest review.

Everyone saw it but them. That should have been the name of the story. Heck, I saw it from their first interaction. I received an ARC of A Friendly Arrangement in exchange for an honest review. All while I was reading this story I was thinking, been there done that. Nothing surprised me from how they began to where they ended up. Christine Warner did a good job with a scenario that was obvious to any reader.

To begin with, this book is set in 1945 and 1955, and white I am not normally into mid-century settings, unless about the war, but this book is such a sweet and lovely book, that I may have to change my mind about that.

So the story starts as follows. Lizzie LOVES Wayne, but Lizzie is not yet 18 and Wayne, being her older brothers friend, lets her down as gently as he can. Fast forward 10 years and now Lizzie is a teacher and Wayne, the Principal. Lizzie is standing in Wayne's office, trying to convince him, to allow the kids to have a dance, but Wayne is barely listening to what Lizzie is saying, he is more interested in Lizzie. I am going to leave it there, so not to give away any spoilers.

This book is SO good, SO well written and basically SO divine that I had to read it TWICE!!! so because of that, I give Secret Love a 10 out of 10.

I dived into this book after being intrigued by the blurb and I am extremely glad I did, as it brightened up my very snowy weekend, more than I expected.
So the story is about a former playboy and his best friends little sister whom has labeled herself the queen of the nerds. Allison Hall is tired of being overlooked and blending in with the wallpaper, so finally gets up the courage to ask her brother for help, when Nate turns her down, she goes to his best friend Jared…but then he turns her request for help down too. But that doesn't stop Allison, but after a disastrous attempt of self-help which lead to her humiliation, Jared stepped in and saved the day…but he opened a huge can of worms for himself.
Jared Esterly had been an honorary member the Hall family since becoming best friends with Nate Hall and had always looked upon Allison as a little sister that is until he helps her with her mission. Now she is out of her baggy, shapeless clothes he can't get the vision of her soft curves out of his head.
Their harmless flirtation turns into something more...that is until her brother finds out and causes them to separate…is this the end for Allison and Jared?
I LOVE THIS BOOK! It is literally everything I am looking for in a contemporary romance, It sparked emotions and reactions in me that I haven't felt in a while when it came to contemporary romance. It made me laugh, cry, get angry and fall in love in the space of an evening. Allison's character was so relatable and your heart bleeds for her when she was the mercy of the office gossips. I fell in love with Jared's character for being the really the most perfect reformed playboy and I even sympathized with Nate and his feels on his best friend and sister getting involved.
This book had everything I want in a contemporary romance, which is why I gave Friendly Flirtation 5 stars and it also gave me a great love for penguins.
