Edie Wadsworth

This was a thought-provoking memoir that looks at how Edie's relationship with her father and how she loved him, despite his many faults, and just wanted him to be proud of her.
It takes an honest look at her journey and struggles and shows how our daily choices shape our life and how we can't run away from our past but need to face it and move forwards.
Family, relationships and God are clearly at the centre of Edie's ethos for how to live and I'm amazed at how much forgiveness she has for the people that hurt her when she was growing up.… (mere)

Edie Wadsworth writes well; I found her life story compelling, however I did find her hero worship of her drunken father disconcerting. Her mother was the hard working parent, the one who was there for her, and yet Edie glorifies her Daddy for some reason, dedicating the book to him first, calling him her "first love". This attitude permeated the whole narrative, and so it quickly became irritating.
I had difficulty relating to her in many ways, but overall I found this memoir to be a good one.… (mere)
