This is second of the books I’ve received from this author through the giveaways he’s had on LibraryThing and the following is my honest opinion.

Bullying is getting more and more prevalent in our schools and it doesn’t have to be the way it was when I was a child. Today more and more children take it to heart when they’re laughed at by those who are the same age and they start crying. This gets even worse if adults are joining in with their laughter along with their children. The crying child who is getting no response feels lonely.

This is what happened to Frances McKenzie the day she got caught in the rain and her beautiful curls got wet and disappeared. Everything was fine until the sun came out which eventually dried her hair. If you’ve got a lot of curly hair you know how it is after a shower and you dry it off your hair with a towel, it has a frightful appearance doesn’t it, and you don’t want to be seen looking that way for fear people will laugh at you.

Well, this is what happened to poor little Frances who started to cry when everyone started to laugh at her because of her now fuzzy hair; that is until she saw what she looked like and started to laugh as well.

For wanting our children to be able to laugh at themselves when things happen, I’m happy to give Lord Toph 5 STARS for his effort here in writing this book.

NOTE: To better enjoy reading this book on an electronic reader you need to be able to see two pages at a time so the illustrations will help compliment what is being read.

This is first of the two books I’ve received from this author through the giveaways he’s had on LibraryThing and the following is my honest opinion.

The number of obese children in the US is at a critical state, and parents though they try as they may are continuously finding difficulties in turning their children around to eating healthier options. In a Child Psychology class I took during my college days I learned there are two things you can’t do when you want your child to do something they should be doing. The first is that you can’t hit the child over their head with whatever you’d like them to do, and the second is that you can’t talk down to the child as you try to communicate what you’d like them to do. Both of these items I’d been taught would tend to turn the child’s mind off from doing your desired outcome.

In his book, Lord Toph, through his soft spoken style of writing, using a combination of prose and rhyming sentences, is trying to subliminally tell his young readers they should change their eating habits from junk food to something healthier. But words alone can’t do the job, words need the assistance of perfectly match illustrations; which the author made sure would happen by using his artistic ability to do them himself.

For wanting to change the eating habits of our children, I’m giving this book 5 STARS.

NOTE: To better enjoy reading this book on an electronic reader you need to be able to see two pages at a time so the illustrations can have their full effect as you read the words.

Review by my 12 year old:

I thought it was a very good book and quite interesting. I really liked the illustration style but I thought it could have been better if the fact that she couldn't sneeze led to her solving or fixing something. There wee two plots and I didn't think they fitted together.

*i received a copy of this book in exchange for a review

I won a copy of this book from a LibraryThing members giveaway.

Helps illustrate the importance of making smart, healthy eating choices.
Nice illustrations. Nice story. Maybe a little rushed.
They start out fat, spend the entire book eating the worst things possible.
Then the second to last page decide to start eating fruits and veggies.
The next to last page shows them skinny and lifting barbells.

I tried reading in Calibre at first, and the formatting in my copy was quite difficult and uncomfortable to read.
I tried reading it in the Amazon reader and that helped a little.
But the text still seemed a little off.
