This is a fun little book about scavenger hunts. There are probably a hundred ideas listed for various types of hunts. Many seemed to be youth-oriented, but the author claims they've been used for adult groups as well. I was a bit surprised to see several "ask your neighbors" hunts (find someone with a moustache; find someone who drives a particular car), as that doesn't seem safe anymore. Even running around a shopping mall or hotel may raise some eyebrows.
One type of scavenger hunt I hadn't ever thought about is the "acts of service" hunt, where groups have to perform various charitable activities (rake the yard, sweep the porch, wash the dishes) and get a signature from the home owner stating the job was done. It's still a little strange thinking about bounding up someone's stairs and almost demanding that they allow you to shovel snow or something.
If you're involved in planning any sort of scavenger hunt, this should provide you with several themes to work with. It's not rip-out-these-sheets-and-hand-them-out complete, but best used for idea generation.
