There is so much information in the book, that weavers might work at the contents for years without ever covering everything.

One of the wonderful things about this volume is the number of different structures covered, including color-and-weave on two shafts, taqueté and jin, lampas, deflected double weave, shadow weave and much more. There are projects/drafts for 2 to 8 shafts and for the four shaft weaver, there is much to be explored using multiple colors in the warp and a variety of weave structures.

Most of the drafts can be woven on a loom with treadles. A few of the drafts do need either a dobby or to be woven on a table loom. All of the four shaft drafts could be woven using a direct tie up to cover all the shaft combinations.

This book was inspired by classes and books from Marian Stubenitsky. Janna has taken what she learned and provides handweaves with a whole collection of projects from 4 shafts through 24 shafts. There are lots of drafts for 8 shafts and most of them only use 8 treadles.

This isn't a beginner book. The drafts are complex and multifaceted. Some threadings have more than one tie up and/or treadling sequence which allows you to weave a series of textiles on one warp.

The color illustrations are lovely and there is much room for color interpretation or variation if you want to change the draft. A really nice book for the weaver's library.… (mere)

This is a comprehensive book on weaving with parallel threadings. Echo weave, four color double weave, turned taqueté, and much more. There are drafts for 4 to 32 shafts and very complete instructions on how to design your own drafts. The book is illustrated in full color, including the drafts.

The subject looks intimidating, but I think once a weaver has copied a few of the drafts directly from the book and woven them, that the subject matter will start to drop into place. This being said, there is enough material in this book to last a weaving lifetime. Highly recommended.… (mere)
