All Troll wants is to be able to eat an Oliver. However, catching an Oliver is tricky and no matter what Troll does, he has a hard time succeeding. Oliver won’t stand still and let himself get caught. By spring, Troll becomes discouraged because all he has had to eat are twigs and stones. The next day the Oliver is on the lookout for Troll, but Troll never comes. Just when Oliver thinks he has won, the tables turn and Troll has a chance to get what he wants.

Troll and the Oliver is the kind of book that delivers constant giggles and maybe even a gasp of surprise. Stower makes the unusual choice of having a child as the antagonist, but he still makes Oliver fun and the reader is able to root for him and Troll at the same time. The story from the Troll's point of view is unique in that Troll is the hero in the story instead of a villain like a troll normally would be. Troll’s facial expressions in the illustrations are amusing, varying from surprised to angry to pleased. Readers of all ages will enjoy reading about how Oliver and Troll are able to set aside their differences for something they have in common.… (mere)

Schon das Cover hat mir gut gefallen, daher musste ich das Buch „König Guu 2: Um Mitternacht, wenn die Mumie erwacht“ unbedingt lesen. Bedauerlicherweise ist der erste Teil an mir vorbeigegangen, aber das muss nachgeholt werden.
Ben hat den Plan einer berüchtigten Einbrecherbande belauscht. Die wollen doch tatsächlich in das Museum einbrechen, in dem Bens Mutter gerade als Nachtwächterin angefangen hat. Das Ziel der Band ist das verwunschene Mumien-Gold. Ben spannt König Guu ein und natürlich ist Wombat Herby auch dabei. Gemeinsam wollen sie den Verbrechern das Handwerk legen. Gut, dass König Guu immer eine geniale Idee hat.
Der Schreibstil ist passend für die angegebene Altersklasse. Die Zeichnungen sind sehr schön und passend und gefallen den Kindern. Das Buch ist eine gelungene Mischung aus Text, Bild und Comic.
Die Überraschung war groß, als ich feststellte, dass König Guu ein Mädchen ist und dann noch eins mit Bart. Sie lebt mir ihrem Wombat Herbert in einem tollen Baumhaus. Den Namen König Guu hat sie sich übrigens selbst gegeben. Ben ist ein liebenswerter Junge, der allerdings etwas schüchtern ist. Wombat Herby hat es mir allerdings besonders angetan. Außerdem gibt es da noch Bens Papa, der kochmäßig nicht so besonders gut drauf ist. Aber nichts ist so schlecht, dass man es nicht noch gebrauchen könnte.
Es ist eine Geschichte, die nicht nur spannend, sondern auch sehr unterhaltsam ist. Ein bisschen Grusel gibt es auch. Kurz: Macht Spaß und ist absolut lesenswert!… (mere)
