This is not a psychological analysis of what draws certain individuals into terrorist activity. There are enough studies on the subject. Rather, this is a personal account of someone who did become involved in extremist behaviour but thankfully encountered someone knowledgeable enough to lead him away from it. As a result, he went under cover and was responsible for perhaps saving thousands of lives through infiltrating a terrorist organization in Toronto. His story deserves to be told.

A book written after careful attention to facts. It is very detailed and thought provoking. It will be the catalyst for many people to truly appreciate the real motives of such organizations.

This book was a real eye opener. A must read. This is an exceptionally well-written book that makes a significant contribution to the field of counter-terrorism.

Anne Speckhard is a pioneer in the study of terrorist psychology. In this capstone book, she takes us into the minds of the terrorists through their own words, persuasively demonstrating how disturbingly normal they are in their own cultural and historical contexts. She makes a powerful case that to deter terrorists we must understand their psychology, and lays out a comprehensive strategy for countering their vicious forms of psychological warfare. Only by countering them at the level of their destructive mindsets can we more effectively compete in the 'war for hearts and minds’.

Anne Speckhard has brought to the reader an extraordinary illumination of the terrorist mind. One comes away accepting the key premise - we are dealing with 'sane madmen.'

This story was really shocking and heart wrenching. It captivated my whole attention and I hardly put the book down. There is just no other way to put it, you have to read it to understand, but this is an outstanding book of the mind of a woman with multiple personality disorder. Good vs Evil. You will be a different person after reading this book.

All the characters are wonderfully written, and the story line is incredible. One of my best reads of the year. Anne Speckhard did a brilliant job when writing this book. This book was amazing. I was highly impressed and I would recommend this book to a friend. Have a box of tissues nearby because you will need them.… (mere)
