Interface Cultures is the name of a masters-level education program at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz, overseen by Sommerer and Mignonneau. This book is a collection of chapters from people who have visited the program as guest teachers. It comes across quite clearly that the pedagogical aims of the program are broad and multidisciplinary, with topics ranging from inspirational technology (software agent architectures, nano-vibration, etc.) to pure art projects and everything in between. I believe that most interaction designers with an interest in artistic approaches would find something inspirational in the book -- for me personally, the chapter on interaction aesthetics by Katja Kwastek seemed particularly useful.… (mere)
