This is a pretty standard Western-style romance; city girl in distress goes out of her comfort zone to find real salt-of-the-earth rural America, with a Prince Charming in a cowboy hat. The plot moves well, to a satisfying conclusion, and the characters are more or less likable (if not particularly realistic--but who wants that?). This is not my usual cup of tea, but was a very comfortable vacation in the land of cowboy romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked the story line and the development of the characters involved. I would read more of Caol Smit's novels. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review this book.

When Lexi Craig is woken from sleep and told to be ready to leave within moments she scurries to get ready afraid that Draponi has escaped from prison. She is taken to a “safe place” to wait till the man she testifies against is caught and in this safe place finds more than she bargained for in cowboy Travis Strong and his daughter Charley.
This is a sweet romance with dialogue and scenes that were witty fun and entertaining. I enjoyed the development of the characters, pre-teen Charley’s reaction to having someone new around, descriptions of landscape and what it was like to learn a bit about life on a ranch. This is a thoroughly enjoyable read that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a romance with a bit of a mystery, a bad guy to overcome, is set on a ranch in Canada and heat without being explicit.
This book was given to me for an honest review. Since I liked it, enjoyed some of the scenes and dialogue but still felt it was somewhat predictable I have given this book 3.5 stars… (mere)

Scottish Valentine - Addison James
A Cookie for Two - Natasha Lane
One of Those Days - Samna Ghani
When Love Comes to Call - Carol Ritten Smith
I think of all four I liked A Cookie for Two by Natasha Lane the best, but in all honesty all four novellas were great on their own. If you like to discover new authors (all 4 were new to me) and you enjoy romantic novellas this is the book for you.
