Normally I don't like May-December aka age gap stories.
But there wasn't so much angst about that. It was a sweet story about two people, each with their own problem coming together through a super cute dog!

Loved this. No, I wanted to love this, actually I was charmed and enjoyed this for the most part.
Occasionally the constant questioning of motivations and feelings frustrated me, but overall I enjoyed it.
All the animal related sections were brilliant.
Really, I loved it and then the final conflict happened. It felt contrived and I felt insulted by the stupidity of the situation, dammit. Then just to add salt into the wound it also annoyed me that Alex never explained to Ethan why he reacted that way. These problems in the final few chapters took some of the gloss away from the story.

Thanks to this book I had to create a 'magic' shelf. :) Because it's not quite paranormal and not quite fantasy. lol So there.

This is a tale about Jack Frost. If you've seen the Rise of the Guardians, you know who I'm talking about. But I also did some research and it turns out it's folklore.
Meet Jack Frost.
I really liked it at the beginning, the air of mystery, Jack's quirky, silly, joyful, carefree and despite his temperature, sunny behavior. I liked the connection he made with Liam. But I expected a comfort read, so I got a little frustrated when it turned out to be a little bit of an angsty read.
But here's what I didn't like:
1. Jack spoke Gaelic. Why? I didn't get an explanation for that. He's not a leprechaun, but it seems every spiritual creature is Irish or Scottish...
2. Which brings me to the next problem. He did have a Scottish accent, but sometimes he forgot to speak like that. It came and went. Which was weird.
3. There were too many explainable things going on. I accepted that Jack didn't wear shoes, ever. I accepted that his skin was always ice cold. But then the weird things started happening with the weather, one minute to the next, and that was too much magic for my mundane mind.
Sometimes we don't have to understand everything we read, jut have to have a little hope and... magic. :D It's Christmas after all.
