This is the first book I've read by this author. I picked it up with the rest of the series. This is the third book I've read of this shared universe and each has been a great read.
I started this adventure with a sense of unease but once the two leads met I was pulled along with the story and the whirlwind interracial romance.
Great. I'd love to catch up with these guys in 15 years.
And I'd also like to check up on Jimmy, Will's brother.

Hmmm. Not what I expected from the book blurb. Yes, a bet is made but in fact Matt and Dom end up fucking long before the bet is completed. Sort of destroyed the whole point of the book IMHO.

This is the classical example of “gay for you” mixed with “friends with benefits” plot. Matt and Dom are both their own bosses, both owners of a construction firm. The only problem is that Dom was lucky enough to land a government contract with the economy went down, and instead Matt is on the brink of bankruptcy.

They know each other well and are Friday drink buddies. Dom is gay and Matt is straight, but the friendship seems to not have issue for that; on the contrary, when Matt is not part of a couple (Dom is always at loose since, apparently he is quite the playboy), Dom is not against the idea to share a mild sexual favour or two. If someone is wondering how Matt can consider himself completely straight if he has no problem at all to have no strings attached sexual intercourse with his buddy friend Dom, well, that is exactly what I asked to myself; I think both Dom and Matt see what there is between them like nothing more than sharing a football game on television at a bar, or buying each other a beer bottle… only that sex happens in private and when both of them are quite drunk.

One night things go further, Dom seduces Matt and the intercourse is a bit more involving, not yet full sex but almost; the morning after, even if a bit disoriented, Matt is not scared by what happened, and Dom starts to wonder if he can push things even further. Profiting of Matt’s downfall in business, Dom suggests him an alternative way out, a take over of Matt’s company with full retention of his employees. In exchange? Dom will have his way with Matt for one week. Matt has a month of time to find another solution, otherwise Dom will win.

If you think that the rest of the book is spent with Matt doing everything in his power to avoid his fate, well you are wrong. I think that, in a way, Matt is not against the idea, and the bet serves him to justify is willingness, in the end, if he will “loose”, it will be something forced on him, not something he chose. Other than this small ethical problem, Matt is very much willing to surrender his man to man virginity to Dom, and he soon turns in a perfect top from the bottom. Even if Dom hints to the possibility of a same level relationship, it’s always him who plays the role of the top, even if Matt is not at all a submissive: he is bratty, pushy and very much a teaser.

The story has plenty of sex, but always with a shade of lightness, Matt and Dom, even if lovers, are still buddy friends, and so they play, barter, squabble, and are able to understand when they can push the other, or when it’s time to take a step back. They have both a volatile behaviour, swinging moods, but they know each other well and so they are able to manage those swings.
