Kamila Shamsie is the author of five novels: In the City by the Sea; Kartography (both shortlisted for the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize); Salt and Saffron; Broken Verses and Burnt Shadows which was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction and has been translated into more than twenty languages. vis mere Three of her novels have received awards from Pakistan's Academy of Letters. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and in 2013 was named a Granta's Best of Young British Novelist. She made the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction 2015 shortlist with her title A God in Every Stone. Kamila Shamsie was also awarded the City of Dortmund's Nelly Sachs Prize (€15,000) in Sept. 2019, which was withdrawn after the prize committee became aware of the German parliament's May 2019 declaration that the non-violent Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel's apartheit treatment of the Palestinians was anti-semitic, and Shamsie's support for the BDS movement.

I den grad et stykke 'verdenslitteratur' med handling, der foregår i Japan, Indien, Pakistan, Afghanistan og USA gennem 60 år. Meget bredspektret bog om kærlighed, venskab, kulturmøder, fordomme, internationale konflikter og meget mere.
Smuk og flot fortalt historie om ligheder på trods af forskelle og det almenmenneskelige. En tendens til at personerne på et tidspunkt fremstod som lidt for klartseende og 'rene' blev bedre efterhånden.
Alt i alt flot og anderledes bog fra Pakistan.

Fantastisk beskrivelse af verden fra 1945 op til nutiden, Personskildringen i top og derigennem skildres de forskellige indstillinger til begivenhederne i den sidste halvdel af det 20. århundrede. Meget smukke, men også meget følelsesmæssige og barske beskrivelser.
