Very brief over view of Ancient American history. The ending was slapped together. New the best showing of the mystery surrounding the death of Mr. Lewis.

Disjointed, unscholarly look at certain aspects of pre-Columbian America. Most of this is not suppressed at all. The death of Meriwether Lewis is not mysterious. He was murdered but because Jefferson accepted a report of suicide doesn't point to suppression. What was Jefferson to do?

Much to mislead in the book such as implying Spirit Mound was somehow related to the Mississippian mounds. Spirit Mound is a geographical formation of the ice age. Also, a completely gratuitous inclusion of 2-3 pages on the Rothschild Jewish money lenders. Indeed the Rothschilds are a subject for research but they have nothing to do with suppressed history. This inclusion borders on being anti-Semitic.

How about putting credence in Native American reports of 18" tall people...clearly an Indian myth passed down through the ages. Same with the giants of the Northwest. The Welch Indians? Make of them what you want.

While bringing up some very interesting past events, none of these were "suppressed". They were just not included in mainstream history texts. However, the authors go awry when they try to bend history and facts to suit themselves. For instance, calling an geologic ice-age hill in North Dakota a "mound" implying it was a burial mound. It's that kind pf misleading writing that makes a lot of mountains out of a lot of molehills in this book.

Another thing, the murder of Meriwether Lewis. It was reported back to Jefferson as a suicide but the authors imply he didn't do enough because it really was an unsolved murder. What was Jefferson to do? Send a team of investigators? The president could do nothing else but accept the report.

As written in this book, Lewis's mysterious death smacks of the ridiculous conspiracy theories of today.
