In my opinion this is a great book. The first reason I liked this book was because of the believable characters. The book talked about the role of a father to his child. I felt that the author did a great job portraying the relationship between the two, as I related to it. "My daddy runs a bath for me, with bubbles and shampoo. He helps me with my toothbrush... but there's much more he can do..." Other than these believable characters, the second reason I liked this book was because of the writing. The writing was engaging as the child talked about the other things his daddy could do for him such as, "My dad's a deep-sea diver, he swims beneath the blue. He battles with sea monsters and finds sunken treasure too." His dad does not obviously do this, however you can see that the dad is playful and creative when entertaining his child. The last reason I liked this book was because of the illustrations. The illustrations in the book not only fit the written text, but used bright colors that drew in my eyes as I read the text. In conclusion, I feel that the 'big idea' of this book was to discuss the role of a father. A father does more than just taking care of his children, he imagines the impossible with them and loves them no matter what.… (mere)
