Fans of Michael Reisig's Key West Series will love the latest Will Bell and Kansas Stamps adventure. And that's not to say that those who are picking up a Reisig book for the first time won't love it too. While it might be nice to have some character background from the earlier books, any reader could pick this up, enjoy it, and then immediately want to start the series.
Reisig does a great job keeping a lot of plot points spinning in the air at the same time throughout this book. The Hole in the Coral Wall Gang visits a variety of locales and meets up with a menagerie of interesting characters that include a Panamanian prison, Key West, the Mafia, some funky "Magic Juice", and a resort that one might not ever leave - but not for the reasons you think.
As usual with a Reisig book, this one is filled with interesting characters and reunions with established ones that are as comfortable as your favorite pair of tennis shoes.
It's easy to give this solid, engaging story 5 stars!

This is the absolute best book in a great series! Reisig always crafts a great cast of characters in addition to his tried and true ones, and this is no exception to that rule. There's a little mysticism, some great flying, and more jungles than I want to see. Add in a challenge for a six figure prize and you end up with Reisig stew. But be forewarned, don't drink a lot of liquids before you hit the monkey scene or you'll be doing laundry! I literally had tears running down my cheeks. Michael, you've outdone yourself!… (mere)

As a pre-reader of author Michael Reisig's works, I'm always in a great position because I get to experience the adventures of characters Will Bell and Kansas Stamps. This, the 9th book in the series of these adventures, is just as exciting as the 1st book was 7 years ago. Once again, the boys (and the entire Hole in the Coral Reef Gang) find themselves embroiled in an escapade that involves treasure, beautiful women, a one-eyed villain, and great Carribean scenery. This plot, without giving much away, is built around treachery, revenge, loyalty, love, and mystery. One of Reisig's hallmarks as an author, in my humble opinion, is his ability to write fully-formed, memorable characters. This book is loaded with personalities like that.

Fans of the series will love this latest addition. For those who haven't had the opportunity to read the work of this outstanding writer, this is an excellent place to start!

As a beta reader for Michael Reisig, I have the good fortune of reading his work before many others. This book, "The Wild Road to Key West" is a terrific page-turner that will be a great addition to the "Key West" series. Will and Kansas are back once again on the road to fortune, excitement, thrills, danger, and interactions with all kinds of great characters. Reisig does a great job fleshing out new characters in this series, but he might have outdone himself in this book. Joining the boys are semi-regulars, Cody and Crazy Eddie, a great dog named Shadow, the quirky daredevil, Arturio, and a hard-to-describe castaway named Slinka. Some outstanding "baddies" are also part of the show led by Venezuelan crime boss, Santiago Talla and the sultry, Passi. Incredible wealth lay at their fingertips, but can our boys and Shadow outwit and outmaneuver Santiago and his gangsters and make it back to Key West in one piece?

The premise of the book fits perfectly with the tone of the earlier stories with a comfort level that matches your favorite shoes. And, while it's not absolutely necessary to have read the earlier books in the series to enjoy this novel, it could help new readers with some of the backstories. Reisig's fans will once be pleased and those unfamiliar with his books may find a new favorite writer.
