What I most appreciate about this book is how it helped me expand my thinking about the role of marketing and its future. Shifts in technology are fundamentally altering how we interact, gather information and measure outcomes. Moreover, the rate of change is accelerating, such that marketing and marketing analytics need to evolve in real time to be effective. The field of marketing has in some ways been disintermediated by technology, finance and product development, such that promotion is the only one of the four Ps still managed primarily by marketing. At the same time, marketing is more critical than ever, because social and technology trends have made it so pervasive.… (mere)
