I'm struggling to rate this. I feel it should be more than a 3 star, but I really can't give it more.

This is an interesting book. Starting off, you're not quite sure where it will lead you, and it does take a little bit of time before you get any answers. However, once the answers start coming I would have preferred to get a little more information. The world created was very interesting, I just felt it was lacking a bit. And it seemed to be given in dribs and drabs. Maybe that was done on purpose, but it did make reading the story more difficult. Add to that some editing issues that threw me out and yes, unfortunately that leaves me unable to give a higher rating.

I'll happily read something else by this author though. I just wish this had had another lookover or some different feedback from a beta reader or two.… (mere)

As depressing as this story starts, with a guy clearly derpessed from a broken heart, by the end of it I was smiling. Here is a message of hope if you ever need one!

Lewis is a famous actor whose boyfriend just left him. He is totally aimless and withdraws to a quiet lake in the mountains somewhere to try and recover. Taylor is a total surpese to him, but the difference in the choices they made, Taylor's simple and straighforwar way of taking care of Lewis reminds him of what is really important. While the ending isn't conclusive as to what exactly is going to happen, it was close enough for me.

If you enjoy well-written short stories about a man finding hope and a new purpose for his life, you might enjoy this one. And as for the lovemaking in the canoe: very creative.… (mere)

This is a totally amazing story. I was pulled in from the very start. The clearly desperate situation of the man Kyle finds at the edge of the road while rain is pouring down was bad enough, but the description of the whole situation, darkness and sheets of water drenching everything, then the lightning and thunder were captivating. I wanted to know what was going on, since I suspected there was more to it than Kyle finding a stranger.

The story that unfolds was sad enough to make me cry, horrible enough to make me angry at the idiots that caused Kyle’s pain and, thank God, has an ending that ‘made it all better’. It left me smiling and with a sense of justice finally having been done.

If you like stories that will leave you tense with needing to find out what’s next, that will fire your emotions to great heights and yet leave you with a sigh of relief and a feeling of you, this book is for you. I completely adore it!

This story held me captivated from the first page with its intensely erotic scenes of submission in the first half, and the equally fascinating revelations of the second half. It is clear from the start that a man of power is submitting here, and as the hints increase, my curiosity did as well. I wanted to know what was going on and how it could all possibly come to a happy end.

The king of this tale is a conflicted man. He is the one in power – or so everyone thinks. In reality, he is bound and restricted by protocol as well as everyone's expectations and to find true freedom is but a dream. Or is it? Once he dares to risk it all to experience the physical submission he so craves, he suddenly realizes that he is in control. All he needs to do is make it happen.

Erotic in the first half, and with an underlying tension throughout, this is a fascinating story about power, freedom, and finding fulfillment in giving in to what you truly need. If you like stories with a historical feel, if you want to experience what it's like to submit, only to be freed of all your inhibitions and limitations, and if you enjoy stories with a twist, you will probably like this one as much as I did.
