Many books have been written about the popular Agile product development framework Scrum. Whereas the founding fathers Jeff Sutherland and Ken Schwaber stick to the Scrum Guide, defining the framework in just 16 pages, there's much more to say about the practical implications, pitfalls, and roads to success. Enter Scrum for the Rest of Us!: A Braintrust Field Guide by longtime practitioner Brian M. Rabon. The book cover and illustrations have the famous pigs and chickens saga as one of the guiding themes along the journey.

The author highlights Agile, specifically Scrum, its features, benefits and useful application. Aimed at a non-IT audience the several roles, events and artifacts are addressed, adding elements to the narrowly defined Scrum framework like velocity, burn-up chart, burn-down chart and Scrum board. On purpose topics like scaled Scrum, writing a user story, sizing, prioritizing, visioning, road-mapping and release planning are left out of this book to keep it from overwhelming the interesting reader or deviating from the core building blocks of Scrum itself.

This field guide is easy to read in only 1 hour of your time. That investment pays out quickly.
