Om forfatteren

Ellery Queen was the pen name for two cousins, Frederic Dannay and Manfred Bennington Lee, who wrote novels and short stories about a fictional detective character named Ellery Queen. At various points in their history, the cousins allowed the name of Ellery Queen to be used as a house name; novels vis mere written by other writers were published under that name. The cousins also wrote four novels that were published under the name "Barnaby Ross" -- they later allowed that name to be used as a house name. (Bowker Author Biography) vis mindre

This book would definitely be for older students. It could work for 4-6 because it is a full-on chapter book.
This book is about a group of kids and their dog who work together to catch a bank robber. It's a book full of mystery and excitement.
I would recommend this book be available in the classroom for students to read independently or for fun. It's a great book for more avid readers that will invoke imagination and curiosity.

This is a 1940's children's mystery .. I believe it is the third in a "series" that definitely does not need to be read in order (I have read only this one). 12-year-old Djuna and his new friend Ben (also ~12), along with their new adult-friend, lazy but brilliant news reporter Socker Furlong, set out to figure out what's really going on in the haunted mansion on Carpenter street. This story has plucky, smart, but realistically scared and amazed 12-year old boys, a Lassie-resembling smart dog to help them with their mystery solving, a green turtle (of course), and a few extra characters to make it all quite interesting. Although I figured out the "mystery" rather early on, I think kids will find this just confusing enough, just mysterious enough, just scary enough to keep them interested until the end.… (mere)
