As much as I adore the film and actual book series that this pop-up book is based on, this rendition didn’t quite live up to my expectations. The art style is so lush and the action of the film is so well thought out that a pop-up edition should have a huge amount of material to draw from, but unfortunately they didn’t quite put enough energy into this book’s design. The scenes are relatively staid in terms of action, the narration oversimplifies the story of the film, and the layout does little in the way of utilizing the potential of the pop-up medium. What we are left with is quite disappointing, but I guess not every pop-up book is going to be a success.… (mere)
