My husband and I started this cookbook in July, it's December now and we are still eating from it everyday. We've lost weight, felt healthier and have enjoyed every meal. I love the grocery lists and weekly planning. It makes for easy meals for our busy lives. Looking for another book from same author or one like it.

After buying some essential oils from a friend I decided I should learn how to use them. I’m pleased that I chose this book, it’s an easy-to-follow practical guide with safety advice and straight-forward recipes. Other books I’ve seen on the topic seem to assume that if you’re interested in essential oils, you must also be on board with homeopathy, reiki and the like, but this book avoids woo, thankfully. I was hoping for more information for the safe use of oils around pets, but the book doesn’t give much advice beyond keeping your oils out of reach. I recommend further reading on this, as, from what I’ve read elsewhere, you may want to avoid using particular oils around the home depending on what animals you have. But apart from this I recommend the book as a decent beginner’s guide.… (mere)

I have been reading quite a few books on different diets. This is due to my desire to eat healthier. What I am finding is what I believed long ago...it is more about self control and portions than anything else. I have yet to find the "perfect" diet book. That is not to say that I don't find any value in these books. I happen to find a lot in them. Unfortunately I haven't found one that covers everything.
This book gives a lot of information on eating with less sugar and how sugar affects you. If you are relatively healthy and are just looking to cut out sugar this book will probably help you out. I really liked that they included how carbs turn to sugar. I am amazed by how many people I talk with, some diabetic, who don't understand the connection. I also liked the tips they gave and the recipes. The diet in this book is directed at getting rid of sugar. You need to keep that in mind because a lot of the recipes are not low fat. Some of them use food that contains natural sugar, (I think that is fine but I state that here in case someone thinks all sugar is omitted). Another huge plus to this book is they offer three levels to their diet plan. I do believe we consume way too much sugar and we all would benefit from cutting that down. The recipes given along with the tips are a great way to start. I think that for most people the recipes might need a bit of tweaking if another health problem is present. If you are looking to go on any of the plans in this book as they are written, I would definitely share the book with my doctor and/or a nutritionist. You don't want to get your body detoxed from sugar at the cost of raising your risk for a cardiac problem. I see a lot of benefits to this book which is why I am giving it this rating. It is a book I will use for recipes that I will most likely tweak so that I get maximum benefit. I would recommend the book to anyone interested in consuming less sugar. As I said there is a lot of good tips and information in it. Just use it wisely.… (mere)
