A very fine study of the book of Jeremiah, focused on the book's unique contribution both to our understanding of ancient Hebrew psychology of the individual and the role the prophetic persona plays within the book of Jeremiah. Polk convincingly proves that key to the theology of the book of Jeremiah is the interface between the person of the prophet and the person of YHWH, especially in their pathos over the events surrounding Jerusalem's destruction.
