A really good intro to the filmmaking process, originally written with those making home or student films in mind. It's for the person who wants to make something a little bit more professional than an average home movie. Of course, being as old as it is, it's a bit outdated in some areas (for instance, super-8 film with a magnetic sound-stripe is no longer made). But the young ones today shooting on DV or HDV and editing on a Final Cut system ought to read this book, if only to get a sense of how complicated, time-intensive, and expensive filmmaking used to be. And for those still using real film, there are some neat charts in the back with footage-to-time conversions and so on.… (mere)
