V. Joy Palmer

V. Joy Palmer has never failed me before and this held up to the standard. I was constantly laughing the whole time and grinning at all the references to other books and movies.
One think I really appreciate about Palmer's books is that she always has a ton of great character development. I really saw the motivations and fears of all the characters in this story and the characters were all quite memorable.
Although this book is part of a series, it can easily be read as part of a standalone and enjoyed.
Overall, I would recommend this story to anyone looking for a funny but deep read.

I was laughing and laughing. This story was cute and hilarious. The characters were priceless and the humor perfect. This story contains everything from flawed characters to discovering God's love. This book really brightened my day and I was amazed by Palmer's writing Style. Weddings, Willows, and Revised Expectation reminded me of Jenny B. Jone's novels and that is a high complement. (the jokes in this book were better.)

I loved how this was not an insta-love. Instead, Chance and Apryl knew each other back in high school. Snippets of events that happened during high school from Apryl's perspective, revealing her pain, hurts, and character.

As far as the actual physical book, this was designed well. That cover. . .fonts. . . Trust me, it was nice to have a book with font that I could read after reading one that was lacking.

There was one thing in this book that I noticed, and that was two formatting typos. That's all.

I look forward to reading more in the future by V. Joy Palmer.

I originally wanted to read this book because a friend loved the first book in the series, but I soon tired of Kaylee's endless mental dialogue, which ranged from wanting to stab the hero in the thigh with a spork, spit on him, and kick him where it hurts to petty jealousy to impassioned outbursts of anger.

Gabe mentally cursed. A lot.
This quote came near the end of the book, when character growth was supposed to be evident. His cursing isn't written out, but the intent is there. And the characters' actions, even after they've changed, are often rude, hurtful, and based on whatever they are feeling at the time.

I found it exhausting keeping up with Kaylee's emotions, and her actions often came across as selfish and unconcerned for others. She also called God crafty.

This book wasn't for me, but it might delight those who like snarky characters and second-chance romance.

Although it’s only January, I can confidently put Marriage Melodies and Rewritten Conclusions on my 2021 Favorites list. I adore this story and its endearing and memorable characters. But what I love most about this tale is the brilliant writer’s voice. I’m not a huge fan of present tense stories because oftentimes it distracts me, but V. Joy Palmer has mastered this first-person present-tense narration. The conversational tone brings this wholesome romance to life with personality, music, faith, wit, and tenderness.

I had so much fun reading this book. I enjoyed Kaylee’s individuality and the chemistry and snark she shares with Gabe. She’s easy to connect with and her emotions, as well as Gabe’s, feel authentic. I laughed repeatedly at the author’s humor and admire the thread of faith and forgiveness expertly woven throughout the story.

Sprinkled with comedy, faith, and delicate relationship dynamics, this Christian romance story shares important messages of forgiveness, redemption, and salvation. I enjoyed every minute of it!

This was a new-to-me author, and I can’t wait to read more of her outstanding work!
