Lorne Whitney comes to Topeka, Kansas, to take photographs and finds himself falling for lovely Bridget Hall. Bridget has lost her confidence since her parents died and she was rejected as a mail-order-bride because of a birthmark on her face. Moving to a new town (Topeka) Bridget is very self-conscious and is content to hide in the kitchen of the Brody Hotel, doing laundry and helping with the cooking. But Lorne is determined to have Bridget come out of her shell and trust him.

This was such a lovely and heartwarming historical-western romance. Lorne was a terrific hero. Kind, thoughtful, and handsome. I loved his interactions with shy Bridget. I also liked Bridget, she was a sweet heroine. And add to all this an angel who is trying to help Bridget accept that she is perfect how she is, and deserves to be loved by a special man.

A wonderful romance by Jo Noelle/Gemma Stuart!

In our society, who we love is a choice we make, but once upon a time this fact wasn't so. To settle a gambling debt, Gerard is forced to marry Layla, a girl that he has never met, under the cover of darkness, with no one knowing but their parents. Gerard immediately leaves his bride to time travel to present day with his friend and no one knows. When Gerard returns to his time he believes that only a month has gone by but due to a fluke during his re-entry he has been gone for eighteen months instead!

A lot has happened during that time, including his bride giving up on Gerard ever coming back for her, and has decided to move back home. Gerard realizes just how selfish he's been, with taking this trip without giving his new marriage, and bride, a chance, and he knows it's time to make things right. He quickly gets his affairs in order and then sets his sights on Layla and winning her affections.

I immediately fell in love with the premise of this book, and knew that it was going to be a fun read, which it was. The characters are utterly charming and I loved the setting, though I wish there could've been more details in that regard. Watching the relationship between Gerard and Layla blossom is wonderful, and the ending will make you swoon!

Love Match is a quick, fun read that I truly enjoyed!

3.5 stars.

When this book first came across my notice for review, I was interested. The concept sounded intriguing. A little time travel, Victorian England, romance? I was sold!

Cora Rey is a modern gal who is enjoying a vacation at Twickenham Manor after graduating with her master’s degree. But this trip was so much more than expected when she finds herself thrust back to Victorian England.

While it’s fairly obvious how the story is going to end, the road to the destination is filled with twists and turns. Cora and Simon are immediately attracted to each other but Cora knows she’s not staying. Living in the past has some perks (the wardrobes) but future knowledge can create some problems.

The friendship that develops between Simon and Cora is enjoyable, and believable when it blossoms to more. And the letters are wonderful.

Cora’s indecision starts to wear after a bit and I felt the thing that triggers confessions of love came a little too late in the story, almost as if it was added to increase word count. But overall, a fun read when you want something light and fluffy.

Jo Noelle puts readers in the midst of the gentry and their daily experiences as well as balls, hunting parties, dinners, and more.
