Fine, clearly written story of the appalling murder of 12-year-old Marion Parker in 1927 by a young man who may or may not have been insane. James L. Neibaur, whose specialty is books on film history, proves himself fully capable as a true-crime reporter. This is a fascinating story of a long-forgotten case.

With the inclusion of first-hand accounts as well as contemporary reviews and press statements, Neibaur shows his love and vast knowledge of the material, enough to satisfy horror movie fans. But unfortunately his writing suffers from poor, distracting editing.
