I was very interested in the author's life story and found her reflections fascinating. The recipes themselves are simple and easy to follow. They are accompanied by interesting anecdotes about the author's family and journey. I was hoping for more photos of the author, her family, and the food itself!

Recipes from my 15 grandmothers
Like this book because it sounds like what I did with my mother in laws recipes on papers and some in her head. Was able to compile them all together for each member of the family over the years.
Recipes are shown with their foreign name and description where it tells you about the food, level and kosher is attached.
Summary of the recipe and facts about it are included.
Ingredients are listed and directions. There are NO pictures and NO nutritional information.
Some of the recipes have a LOT of ingredients be sure you have them all.
Recipes are broken up into food categories.
Glossary is also enclosed at the end. Can't wait to try a few of the cookie recipes.

I usually am not too interested in cookbooks, but this is a very nice one! They recipes are rated as easy to difficult, the instructions are very clear and easy to follow, and the recipes sound delicious.
(Half a star deducted for not being illustrated).

I love this cookbook! A wonderful selection of heirloom family recipes with an emphasis on the Spanish/Cuban/Caribbean influences thanks to the author's upbringing. But this is so much more than a family-inspired cookbook; this tells the story of Jewish oppression, how food is always the common bond and something that can be passed down for generations, regardless of exterior influences. I was not aware of Genie Milgrom's earlier book, My 15 Grandmothers, and I am looking forward to reading that one as well! My only complaint: I wish there were a few pictures throughout the book to show the beauty of the food. It wouldn't have to be a lot, but a few simple, colorful pictures of these colorful foods would make this cookbook near perfect.
A huge thank you to Gefen Publishing for giving me the opportunity to review this amazing book!
