That said, how you feel about the book as a scientific study is up to you. Methods and standard have changed since Metraux was desperately badgering his friends to let him witness religious ceremonies. His sources are primary, the record is oral, and there would be no way to duplicate his observations in 2021. All this to say that it FEELS legit but I'm no ethnographer. If you have experience in the Voodoo religion and find errors in his work, speak up! Almost everyone in the pages is dead, it''s your story now.… (mere)
