While this collection as a whole may not be so memorable as others, the language here original and entertaining, and the poems are relaxed. Whether focused on the individual's relation to the self or to others, the collection is often conversational and grounded in a hope for understanding. And, some of the poems here are worth coming back to again and again for the tight and measured language if for nothing else. I'd recommend this to lovers of poetry, and to beginning writers--Marvin is smart in her execution, and while I don't always find here the passion that I want from a collection of poetry, I do find the rhythms and language that make it a worthwhile and enjoyable read.… (mere)
