Suspense and Nail-Biting Tension!
A small backstory without giving away spoilers:
Dr. Phil Stanton and his wife, Cathy are on their way home when a truck pulls out in front of them almost causing them to wreck. Phil decides to flash his lights and honk his horn as he goes around the truck, but he never expects for the truck to start following them. Phil goes into panic mode as he tries to get home at a high rate a speed with the truck right on his tail.
When they finally arrive home with no truck in sight they breathe a sigh of relief.....until the truck shows up then it is once again panic mode for all of them as it seems that the Stantons have a stalker on their hands and things are about to go haywire for all involved!
Who is the stalker? Why has this person followed the Stantons home? What is the motivation behind the stalking? No spoilers here as you will need to read the book!
Thoughts:
This book was constant tension and suspense in the beginning of the story with the stalker which kept me glued to my kindle in the first part of the book. The story kind of dragged along though about the middle of the book with the Stantons and the police trying to figure out why the stalker was after the Stantons, but then the last 60% of the book was one huge nail biter as the suspense kicked up to full throttle!
There was a major twist near the end of the book which drove my tension meter up and shocked me out of my shoes as I never saw it coming at all! Giving this book four "Terror Tension" stars!

A small backstory:
Nick Gorman is a famous Hollywood producer and he gathers a team together of ghost hunters along with a couple of scientists as he knows of an island that is considered to be haunted and he wants to film a documentary of the haunting.
When the team arrive to the island they find out that there is a house called Thornhill Manor where they will be staying which is also haunted as people have been injured there and no one ever wants to stay in the manor.
Though Nick has other reasons that he brought the team to the island as he is in search of something that he learned while in the process of researching the island, but he does not divulge the true reason to the team. The team soon learns that the house and island are haunted and they will be fighting for their lives before all is said and done as when the house comes alive there truly will be no escape!
Why is the island and the manor haunted? What secret is Nick keeping from the team? Does the team make it out alive? No spoilers here as you will just need to read the book!
Thoughts:
This was a great creepy atmospheric haunting and this was my first time reading this author as well. The writing style just flowed along smoothly and the world building of the island/manor slowly built up to a crescendo until finally the author lowered the boom and the haunting went into
full blown ghost mode!
The last half of the book I could barely put it down as so much was happening within the story from chapter to chapter that I had nights where I just couldn't sleep as I wanted to keep reading to see what the team had to experience next. Giving this story five "Macabre Manor" stars!… (mere)

As a fan of the strange, unexplained, and the unusual, I’ve read many stories dealing with the mysteries of the native peoples in the Four Corners region of the United States. These tales are usually about the lost Anasazi...skinwalkers... and Chaco...and of course evil spirits. What the "Ancient Enemy" actually is never really personified. It's never seen and is never given a name. It does have talents that you wouldn't want anything or anyone to process, much less use. It can animate the dead...put people into a trance when they are vulnerable...and kill at will. What this very talented author has done is create a very chilling tale of supernatural horror, with a storyline that will keep the reader riveted. His character development...both the protagonists and antagonists... is absolutely top notch. There are very few slow spots in the pace of the story and the conclusion of the novel just opened the door for a sequel. Since this book was in my box of books from my two friends and is an entirely different genre than the others I will have to buy the second book. Amazon...here I come!… (mere)

Seem that i have struck the proverbial jackpot with interesting stories. If you like stories that pull you in a wrap you up...this is one of those. It's a fairly solid, almost believable, alien abduction story. The characters are skillfully portrayed and drawn out so that the reader gets to know and care for each of them. There are some extremely frightening moments, especially near the end. I had to pretty much skip over the animal mutilating. The book lost a 5-star rating because of it. I can read the goriest murder descriptions but don't kick the dog or anything else with fur and four legs...or feathers and two...or scales and none. I would pay to see this made into a movie.… (mere)
