Erik Lokkesmoe

Written by Jedd Medefind and Erik Lokkesmoe, I was a bit timid about reading yet another RELEVANTbook, but was pleasantly surprised at the quality and depth that this book allowed me to experience.

The book is written from two communicators perspectives, focusing on seven principles that “Jesus lived to impact, connect and lead”. The seven principles were the seven chapters, with a final concluding chapter to wrap the book up in a great 165-page hard-bound book. The seven principles:

001: Attentiveness
002: Seeking Connection
003: Asking Questions
004: Authenticity
005: Storytelling
006: Solitude
007: Defining Success

I did gain a lot of good stuff from this book. I found myself highlighting often with the hopes to work some of my newly-gained insight into sermon points one day. Some great quotes are found within these pages, and the authors are definitely scholars in the sense that they’ve done their book-homework for sure!

One “annoyance” again in this RELEVANTbook were the numerous typographical mistakes found in these pages. Numerous as in atleast 4 that I could turn back and point out. Kind of makes the book feel “cheap” when on the page before Chapter 1 begins, a quote is found with the word “in” replacing the correct word “is”.… (mere)
