Kort biografi
From her official website (www.gracelin.com):
Grace Lin is the author and illustrator of more than a dozen picture books, including THE UGLY VEGETABLES and DIM SUM FOR EVERYONE! Grace's first children's novel THE YEAR OF THE DOG was released with glowing praise. While most of Grace's books are about the Asian-American experience, she believes, "Books erase bias, they make the uncommon everyday, and the mundane exotic. A book makes all cultures universal." This would be a good book for primary ages because of the short pages and easy storyline.
This book is about a young girl who baked a mooncake with her mother and left it in the night sky to rest. However, she soon gets hungry and begins to nibble away at the cake.
This book would be a great book to use when learning about outer space and the phases of the moon.

Grace Lin writes about The Year of the Rat. It is a novel that focuses on Pacy dealing with the emotions of her best friend Melody's move to California and finding the courage to become a writer and illustrator. Pcy faces challenges and is faced with herself to overcome them. Year of the Rat features black and white illustrations but is primarily a novel and specific for a particular age group. this book is great for a topic-specific related to Asian American culture because it focuses on many of the specific traditions and cultural backgrounds related to the meaning behind "the year of the Rat".… (mere)

This was one of my favorite books when I was younger. I remember reading it when I was in middle school. The novel received a 2010 Newberry Honor and the 2010 Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children's Literature. The character of the book is named Minli she hears her father tell her stories about the Jade Dragon and the Old Man of the Moon. Minli believes these stories and embarks on a journey to find the Old Man of the Moon and ask him how her family can change their fortune
