- Henrietta Leyser is an English historian, specializing in the role of women in the medieval period. She is the author of numerous wide-ranging and influential essays and articles. Her second book, Medieval Women: A Social History of Women in England 450–1500, which was published in 1995 and has been reprinted several times, has proved to be seminal to subsequent scholarship. She is an emerita fellow of St. Peter's College, Oxford, and an elected fellow of the Royal Historical Society. She has contributed biographies to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and has served as the historical consultant for the British television series Mystery Files. She was married to historian Karl Leyser; their daughter is Dame Ottoline Leyser.
