Mother and Fatherwolf aren’t looking for trouble, but when a small man-child toddles by their cave, they decide they can’t leave him alone in the jungle. They take the boy into their pack, name him Mowgli, and raise him as one of their own cubs. Mowgli learns the law of the jungle from the big old brown bear Baloo and Bagheera the black panther, but even they can’t keep an eye on him all the time!
This little boy wants to be the best big brother he can. Sometimes it is difficult when his sister is crying but he finds a way to help out even then.

Cameron loves his new baby sister, and wants to help with her. He helps by changing her, putting her to sleep and rubbing her tummy. He is such a good big brother! He finds out how much baby Sadie really loves him when she starts to cry and he is the only one that can her smile.

Diane Wright Landolf has pared the origin story of Santa Claus down to its essential core, trimming out the narrator and the songs but keeping his turn as an outlaw practicing civil disobedience against an autocratic mayor. Darrell Baker art captures the likenesses of the stop-animation figures well, especially sexy Miss Jessica, one of my many lifelong animated crushes.
This adaptation will never replace the original, but it does whet my appetite for watching it again this year.
