Jan Karon was born in North Carolina in 1937. After a career in advertising, she began writing a column in the Blowing Rocket. The column, about life in the small North Carolina town of Mitford, centered around an Episcopalian minister named Father Tim. Her Father Tim stories were collected into a vis mere book and published by a Christian publisher. She is the author of A Mitford Novel series and two children's books entitled Miss Fannie's Hat and Jeremy: The Tale of an Honest Bunny. She has won numerous awards for her work including the Christy Award for A New Song and the Gold Medallion Award for A New Song, A Common Life, In This Mountain, and Shepards Abiding. In the Company of Others: A Father Tim Novel af Jan Karon

Not my favorite of the series but certainly still such a lovely story and a great addition to this fabulous series! I loved the trip to Ireland I got through this story.

Out to Canaan af Jan Karon

Mitford is one of my favorite fictional places, and I was glad to return in Out to Canaan. Perhaps it is because I have done the retirement thing twice before and unretired both times that this book resonated with me. Perhaps it is because I have known these people, or their doppelgangers, and remember them fondly. Perhaps it is because of the faith that permeates the book. I loved it.

Start at the beginning of the series. Keep on going. It is highly recommended for people who enjoy wholesome fiction.… (mere)
