Hannah Jewell

I consider myself fairly well-read and I'd heard of some of these women (Nancy Wake, Nellie Bly, Sappho, Hypatia, Hedy Lamarr, et al) but obviously many were new to me, so thank you to Jewell and 100 Nasty Women of History for introducing some of these frankly cool chicks to me.

While the writing style sometimes grates, Jewell manages to cover the life of each nasty woman in some detail in only a few pages and kept me entertained throughout. I kept thinking of other women that didn't make the list but perhaps that's for the sequel.… (mere)

This is a well-researched collection that features some bad-ass women I have never heard of, or forgotten about. I wish it featured less commentary and more history, and maybe more pictures. I'm so glad I found this. The women are amazing, and lived inspiring lives, esp for the time they lived.
