Blue Ridge Parkway Plunge (Rachel Myers Murder… af Annis Ward Jackson
The book had no depth...no umph. It took several days for me to read this book because I had to force myself to pick it up and read it. The conclusion is obvious and there are no surprises.
A series of short stories and essays, this book took me back home to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Ghost stories, folk tales, memories....they all take the reader into life in Appalachia. The stories made me smile, sigh, and laugh as I remembered my parent's childhood home. With the exception of one or two stories, the book was great, and even those two stories were good.
Rachel returns to her Blue Ridge mountain home for her father's funeral and discovers Ed McKinney has stepped in and befriended the old man. Ed has many secrets, one being his true relationship with Rachel’s father.
Blind Malice is the first in the Rachel Myers Murder Mystery Series. I chose this book because it takes place in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a place where my parents were born and raised.
Jackson weaves an interesting web as to who are the good buys and who are the bad guys. She doesn't attempt to hide who is who but she manages to keep the reader's interest focused until the end.… (mere)
