Great story of Catholics in England struggling to live their faith under the persecutions of Queen Elizabeth

A short book, and the first couple of chapters setting the scene were not easy for me to get into. It seemed as if several stories were taking their own paths. But soon all the strands started to pull together and the people became real. Most of the action takes place over the course of less than a week, so it's more of a glimpse of life (and death) than an epic saga. I liked the characters, the setting which seems true to the time and place, and the book as a whole, very much. It's a keeper.

Treason: a Catholic Novel of Elizabethan England. Dena Hunt. 2013. This short novel provides a vivid picture of what life was like for Catholics in England when Elizabeth I was queen. There is not much character development or plot. I’d hoped for a really good historical novel, but this wasn’t it. I wanted for a Catholic Green Mansions by Anya Seton.
