War Boat (River Sunday Romance Mysteries Book 9) by Thomas Hollyday
Have enjoyed the series but books can be read as a standalone. Really enjoyed this one because of all the action and secrets discovered.
To me it is two books in one: one is the present day where John comes to the area and is taking over for his relative who died.
Two: the past when the area is under attack from the Nazi.
Book goes from present to back in time where you learn how the Nazi attacked the US in such a remote area as River Sunday.
Like hearing of the secret passages under the water and what they find to help them understand how it could really all happen. Very similar to passages in our home town where the rum runners once deposited illegal goods.
Like what they not only find but how the town treats them. Such a huge controverrsy as to who is all involved.
This book was a great read for me because of all the action, romance, shipbuilding trade, secrets, WITCHES, travel, legends and myths Such a good storyteller!
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

The China Trade Clipper Brig of Saint Michaels, Maryland, John Gilpin 1830 -1841
Have read other works by this author and really appreicate the research noted.
This book starts out with acknowledgements then onto the story of The John Gilpin.
Beautiful color photo with sails up. Without going into the story as it's a short but precise account there are other items included:
author bio and other works by the author, Cargo account-handwritten notes along with details, ship log and all the footnotes are resourced.
Enjoyed the history of this book as author puts it all into a readable entertaining story.

A short series of cartoons depicting the authors sense of humour throughout the seasonal calendar. The drawings and witty reports that go alongside them will appeal to young and old, bringing a smile to your face and makes you look at the flora and fauna as well as the wildlife you see daily in a more enlighted way.

The book also portrays an ecology side to it showing us that we need to protect and nurture nature in its surroundings for future generations to enjoy and to cut back on our waste products which we all can achieve.

The simplicity of the sketches can be discussed in length to define their interpretation and each cartoon will conjure a different thought process to everyone who looks at them and could be used as an educational aid. The beauty of animation is the message they portray to everyone from the drawings by ancient caveman to the classic artists and finally to the modern day.

I enjoyed these cartoons and have revisited them several times and each time I have noticed or thought something different which is authors intention.

Powerboat Racer by Thomas Hollyday
Have read other works by this author and have enjoyed the books.
This one starts out with John Loggerman and he's arrived in the USA in hopes of meeting up with his daughter who he's not seen in ten years.
His ex wife keeps her nearby and she lives in the Tinker community where they walk around with machine guns. John learns Stephanie, his daughter, is on a mission and not able to see him.
She does contact him via phone and tells him she has to do what she's told or her mother's life is in danger.
He just wants his products boarded so he can get out of there, with his daughter. The protestors don't want him to have the products nor leave..
Fond memories of one year's boat race on the water during July, a yearly event. Story follows many different angles and is still full of twists and turns. Lots of action.
Like learning how using codes the Tinkers sends messages about their events.
Like technical talk of how to balance the ship. Brutal savage attacks-very detailed with descriptions.
Especially like that this book is good for a man or woman. It will hold their interests til the end. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
Received the book from the author and this is my honest review.
