I prefer this version to the one with John Goodman. Ian Holm is a great actor. The British version is more true to the book, and less slapstick.

This film was a remake of the Disney 1961 presentation of the true story of a Skye Terrier who was faithfully trustworthy to his master. After his owner (Constable Gray; Thomas Lockyer) dies, Bobby (his faithful terrier) goes through numerous trials to make sure that he stays near his owner's grave. While he was alive Gray allows a young boy (Ewan Adams; Oliver Golding) to befriend his wonderful dog and he takes care of him to the end of his life. Wonderful! Highly recommend.
