Kenan Heise was born during the Depression and was strongly influenced by its effects on his own family. He spent seven years in a Franciscan monastery and later 34 years as a reporter, columnist, and reader advocate for three major Chicago newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune. He interviewed vis mere many poor people in soup kitchens, prisons, and in their homes, and these were featured in the newspapers where he worked. He lives in Evanston, III. vis mindre

Clarence Darrow in Hell: A Play in Two Acts af Kenan Heise
The famous lawyer presents in hell, and is asked to account for his sins. He refuses to admit to having any. Together with Dante and a famous madam, Darrow tours hell, asked at every stop by Dante to embrace God and save his soul. Darrow continues to speak out against the injustices he perceives in hell. In the end, the final battle will be between Minos, the judge of hell, and Darrow, blinded like justice. The author manages to maintain the suspense throughout; who will win the final battle? Will Darrow turn and admit the existence, even the love, of God? Or will he manage to destroy hell itself in his quest for truth and justice as he defines it?
