So - I really liked this book - it was a full story - with a lot of those little details that you'd be curious about - However... It is so predictable that she woudl fall in love with a guy while she was in the army. Its so unfortunate that the goal of a woman's life should always end up (surprisingly) to be a man...
So - the story was good, but women's lives are always so disappointing - for many of the reasons expressed by the Deborah herself... as she confessed her "weakness" to a man...
jesus.

Glad I read it - I'd been lookng for a book on a woman who was active in the miliary in the revolutionary war.
I'm still looking for a good one on the Civil war. If you ever go to Gettysburg and look at the pictures of the soldiers there - there were quite a few that were very likely women, but alas - the secret is kept so well - that we never get to hear their stories.

#1 in The Saylok Chronicles. Bayr of Saylock doesn't know he is the bastard son of the King and is raised among the keepers of Temple Hill. As strong as Hercules, he guards Alba, the King's (adopted) daughter. The King is not a good man, and treachery ensues. A favorite of mine.

Angelo and Eva are not related, but raised together in Italy. Angelo joins the priesthood. Eva, a Jewess, joins the Resistance. That they survive is miraculous. A true favorite book of mine.

Didn't enjoy as much as other Amy Harmon books. Anne Gallagher time travels to the Ireland of 1921.
