Princess Truly and her brother Ty are camping. Nothing outdoors scares Princess Truly, which is helpful until she gets the hiccups and they won't be scared away! Will her hiccups ever end?

This is a sweet and charming story, if not that substantive. I do like how Truly and Ty have a good relationship; she helps her little brother out and vice versa instead of squabbling. The bravery is a nice aspect to show as well.

My tiny quibble is that the parents are nowhere to be seen. They don't have to be a big part of the story, but they should at least be in the background illustrations as present, in my opinion. I'm also not entirely sure why Truly needs to have "magic curls" as the rest of the book is more or less realistic.

The book consists of two short chapters / short stories, which are related. This can make a youngster feel really accomplished for reading a "chapter book" even though it is still more of an early reader style in terms of short, simple, declarative sentences full of sight words.

Gentle illustrations fit the tone well, and the final page provides a step-by-step drawing instruction as well as a prompt for creative thinking/writing.

This book is the perfect pick me up for a little girl who might be struggling with a little self confidence! Truly is just a girl who believes that her magic curls will get her to all the right places in life. She encourages young girls that they have power to, they just have to believe in themselves.

Truly is a precious little girl who is a genius and a young inventor. She builds a turbo-charged bike for her little brother so he won't feel left out. She also invents a teeth brushing machine and even a snack machine. She oftentimes takes old things and makes new, exciting things with them. With a heart of gold, her mission is to help anyone she can. Whenever she has a brilliant idea, her magic curls radiate, and she quickly jumps into creator-mode. She is sure of herself and never holds herself back from doing great things. The end of the book features instructions for drawing Truly's little brother, Ty and an activity for kids.

WOW! I ADORED this book. I absolutely loved Truly's spirit and independence. She is well-rounded since she is smart, helpful, and confident in herself. She is also proactive; she does not wait around to do something--she does it right then and there. Kids can learn a lot from her and will know that the sky is the limit. Too often, children are told they're too small to bring about great change or do something extraordinary. The love she has for Ty is admirable, too. Kids who might be a big sister or big brother can learn a lot about sibling graciousness from this great character. I can't say enough wonderful things about this extraordinary piece of literature! Aside from the story itself, the activity and drawing instructions at the end are invaluable additions. With these additions, kids can fuel their creative minds and embrace the arts.
