What I think you need to know:
A Deeper Love by Heidi Gray McGill is the ninth book in the Suamalie Islands series. The series is Contemporary Christian Fiction set on a fictional set of Islands in the Pacific. The series is written by several authors with stories that have the common connection of the Islands. In this book we go to Isle of Tiga to meet Island resident Alicia Garry and tourist Daniel McMaster

What you might need to know:
Alicia lost her mother to cancer when she was a young child and her father five years prior to this story. While it is not key to this story it is talked about during the book.

What I think about this book:
I really enjoyed this story. McGill created complex characters who are easy to relate to. I enjoyed seeing Alicia’s character evolve during the story, she felt so realistic. Daniel was interesting. I felt like we didn’t really get to know him until the last quarter of the book. I loved how diving was described during the book. I have never been , but the author brought it to life in my imagination. I can’t wait to see how the other residents of Tiga pop up in future stories. I appreciate how the author showed the hidden side of tourist destinations and locals sometimes struggle with poverty while living amongst and working for the tourist. I am excited to read the next book in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

Welcome to my latest book review, where we will explore the enchanting world of Christian Contemporary Romance in “A Deeper Love” by Heidi Gray McGill. As the ninth installment in the Suamalie Islands Year One series, this novel promises a heartwarming tale set against the backdrop of love, self-discovery, and the beauty of the underwater realm.

The story follows Alicia Garr, affectionately known as Algae, who owns Scuba Deux, a diving company. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she becomes the guide to a wealthy man named Dan. Despite initial impressions of entitlement, Alicia falls for Dan as she gets to know him better. Dan, eager to share his world with her, wants to give her everything, but Alicia hesitates to accept. The narrative unfolds with the promise of a unique love story between a mainland man and an island lady, exploring their journey to find a meaningful ending.

Heidi Gray McGill crafts characters that come to life on the pages. With her strong and independent spirit, Alicia contrasts with Dan’s wealthy background. The development of their relationship is both believable and heartening. Readers are treated to a deep dive into their personalities, fears, and desires, creating a connection that lingers even after the final chapter.

One of the standout features of “A Deeper Love” is McGill’s vivid descriptions of the underwater world. The narrative skillfully captures the beauty and mystery of marine life, providing readers with a visual feast. Whether you’re a diving enthusiast or not, the immersive descriptions add an extra layer of enchantment to the story.

While this book can be enjoyed as a standalone, the reviewer recommends exploring the entire Suamalie Islands series for a richer experience. Ensuring that all the books in the series are of exceptional quality adds an enticing element, making it a worthwhile investment for readers seeking a continuous journey through the Suamalie Islands.

In conclusion, “A Deeper Love” by Heidi Gray McGill offers a compelling Christian Contemporary Romance that combines love, self-discovery, and the allure of underwater exploration. Whether you’re a fan of this genre or looking for a captivating standalone read, this book offers something special. Dive into the pages and witness the unique love story unfold against the backdrop of the Suamalie Islands.

A nice story where we are transported back to the islands where beauty is everywhere. I loved learning about diving and how breathtaking it can be to discover the creatures beneath the sea. Alicia is living her dream of taking clients out to deep waters and plunge under the sea to a world you can only imagine. There is so much to explore each time Alicia goes out. Her friendship with Tug is endearing and I know he keeps a watchful eye out for her.

Dan is a little mysterious as he books a week long trip with Alicia. He doesn’t share much about himself but I can tell he has a big heart for others. Their time together starts to develop into more than friendship when Dan leaves unexpectedly. Life can certainly throw curves ball at the most unexpected times. I love how deep Dan’s faith is which makes him an ideal match for Alicia.

The author gives us a look at two people trying to follow God’s direction while fighting their own desires. It is hard to surrender to God sometimes, but we know that He wants the best for us. The place where the story is set is a great illustration of helping each other out. It is family to many who live there and comforting to know you have people there to help you when you are in need.

I loved how the author writes a story where waiting on God is hard for both of our main characters. Dan surprises me when he finally decides to take a step of faith and follow his heart. The story is filled with a fun adventure while discovering that God is in control.

“By His grace, I shall not fail. My anchor holds.”

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Better than a Hallmark movie. Feels like you know these people right away. Alicia has a scuba diving business with guided tours on an island near Hawaii. Dan has contracted her for a vacation week getaway from a demanding job. Fun and interesting to get to know them all. Learning to trust, finding that special someone and making life changes. Getting to know what's important in your life. Wonderful sermon lesson and how it's applied in their lives. A page turner that makes you wish you could see it filmed.

I received this book free from the author, publisher and CelebrateLit book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
