General Gordon is one of the Lee's Generals in the Civil War. This books details his experiences in the Civil War. General Gordon is very kind and almost political in reference to any views and stories of his peers or Union opponents. The book has many anecdotal stories and some are not seen elsewhere. Gordon’s style is somewhat like Webb Garrison works. Gordon also addresses the controversy over Longstreet’s delay at Gettysburg. In doing so Gordon was considered in the "Lost Cause" camp. Page 160 provides the specific details that the “Lost Cause” supporters accused Longstreet of which in their opinion caused the loss at Gettysburg. Placing blame elsewhere exonerated Lee.… (mere)
