I have been fortunate to see many, if not all of these, at exhibitions in Japan, at Bloomingdales in NYC and in his major exhibition in Washington, DC. Always, always STUNNING. He recreated the ancient art of tsujigahana, and then put his own spin on it. I'm not sure if he completed what he wanted to accomplish in his lifetime, but if he didn't, then his deshi certainly did it for him.

This lavishly illustrated book showcases fifty-five masterworks by Japanese kimono artist Itchiku Kubota.

Wow, what a fascinating and beautiful book! I loved looking at the artwork of the kimonos, with their incredible depictions of the seasons. The color is amazing! I appreciated the close-up shots that showcased the embroidery. I'd never heard of Itchiku Kubota until this book came through my department at work. What a treat!
