The story was unbelievable and badly edited. I have read a number of Amish stories. This one I had a hard time relating it to the Amish. The Amish characters spoke current, popular language. As anyone who has read any Amish books knows they speak a mix of English and German. I also cannot see an Amish romance developing over a few hours/days. Most especially one between two people who have never met before and one being a part of the community the other, (the male), being an outsider. The author mentions knitting a quilt. I quilt. My mother, grandmother and great grandmother all made quilts. I have never heard of knitting a quilt. The characters also were not very well developed so I had a hard time caring about them. I am not trying to be mean but I really do not think the author put very much research or time into this book. Perhaps with proper research and time for development the author can write a much better story next time.… (mere)

Miriam is the next in line of the daughters of Samuel and Emma, and she's ready to marry the love of her life. She thinks she knows who that is--Jed, a neighbor she's known all her life. Unfortunately, instead of asking her to marry him, he asks her to go to the city with him--essentially on rumspringa, though the word isn't used. He's not ready to settle down yet; he wants to find out what the wider world has to offer before making that decision.

Miriam doesn't share that desire, and remembers the pain it caused her family when her oldest sister, Abigail, went to Philadelphia and married there. Jed can't understand her refusal, and they part unhappily. Miriam can't imagine that someone else will come into her life.

Then Daniel, a carpenter from another Amish community, moves to their town, and she starts to think she was wrong.

Then Jed comes back.

What is Miriam going to do? How can she decide where her happiness, and her values truly lie?

It's another sweet, charming story, with a young woman making her choices about values, love, and happiness. And in this case in particular, about her own value.

A very nice little story.

Allison Kaufman is the younger sister of Abigail, who not long ago left Lancaster and Amish country for Philadelphia, and marriage to a kind, loving, devout, upright--Englisher. Her father didn't handle it well, and still isn't. Abigail was his favorite, and was supposed to take over the family quilt shop.

Allison is still at home, and is still the second daughter, not the oldest and the favorite. After trying to control every decision Abigail made, Samuel barely has time to notice what his second daughter is doing.

Allison is also far more committed to the Amish way of life.

When the handsome, kind, devout Englisher, Lucas, comes into the quilt shop to buy quilts for his aunt's hotel, Allison is immediately attracted to him--and he to her. But what will another daughter marrying an Englisher do to her family? Would Lucas even consider becoming Amish?

This is another sweet, charming story about good people looking for love and a happy ending. Lucas, Allison, and her mother, Emma, are all likable characters.

Abigail is a young Amish woman, with a plain, simple life laid out for her. As the oldest of three daughters, her father intends for her to inherit the family quilting shop, He also has her husband all picked out for her.

Abigail doesn't care for the man, though, and also doesn't love quilting the way the other women in her family do. She also wants to see more of the world than their little town. Surely it's possible to live a Godly life elsewhere? Even in Philadelphia?

Despite her father's opposition, she goes to Philadelphia, finds an apartment, a job, and a church, and begins to explore living a Godly life without the restrictions of Amish life.

This is a very sweet romance, with a young woman finding her own path and her own happiness, without losing her own faith and values.
