Contributors to Villanelles

Join Porter Square Books for a reading from the new anthology Villanelles.
The villanelle has long fascinated poets and readers alike with its incantatory rhyme scheme and dancelike pattern of repeating lines. Many well-known poets have tried their hand at it, and the form is enjoying a surge of interest among poets today.
The readers for this event will be:
Stephen Burt is the author of two critical books on poetry as well as two poetry collections, including Parallel Play, and is the editor of The Art of the Sonnet. His essays and reviews have appeared in The Believer, The Nation, and The New York Times Book Review. He teaches at Harvard University.
Martha Collins is the author of several poetry collections, including the book-length poem Blue Front, winner of the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award and chosen as one of “25 Books to Remember from 2006” by the New York Public Library. Her other awards include fellowships from the NEA, the Bunting Institute, the Ingram Merrill Foundation, and the Witter Bynner Foundation. She is also the recipient of three Pushcart Prizes, the Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award, and a Lannan residency grant. Collins founded the Creative Writing Program at UMass-Boston and for ten years was Pauline Delaney Professor of Creative Writing at Oberlin College. She is currently editor-at-large for FIELD magazine and an editor for Oberlin College Press.
Steven Cramer is the author of Goodbye to the Orchard, Dialogue for the Left and Right Hand and The World Book. His poems and criticism have appeared in numerous literary journals and he currently directs the low-residency MFA program in creative writing at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.
Annie Finch is the author of fifteen books of poetry, translation, and criticism. Her collaborations merging poetry with music, visual art, and theater have been produced at Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has a PhD from Stanford and directs the Stonecoast MFA program in creative writing at the University of Southern Maine.
Richard Hoffman is author of the poetry collections Without Paradise, Gold Star Road, winner of the 2006 Barrow Street Press Poetry Prize and the New England Poetry Club’s Sheila Motton Book Award and Emblems, as well as the short-story collection Interference & Other Stories and the memoir Half the House. He teaches at Emerson College and currently serves as Chair of PEN New England.
Marie-Elizabeth Mali is the author of Steady, My Gaze and serves as co-curator for the Page Meets Stage reading series in New York City.
Jose Edmundo Ocampo Reyes was born and raised in the Philippines, and holds degrees from Ateneo de Manila and Columbia Universities.
