Kort biografi
Kathleen Fidler was born in Leicestershire, England and raised in Wigan and in North Wales. She became a teacher and later a head teacher. In 1930, she married James Goldie and moved to Scotland. She began writing stories for her own children, and became a highly prolific author who published more than 80 novels and nonfiction titles. Many of her novels followed the adventures of two families, the Brydons and the Deans. After her death in 1980, her publishers and members of the Edinburgh Children's Book Group established the Kathleen Fidler Award for previously unpublished authors of novels for children aged 8 to 12.

While I found Flash to be shallow and trite, Turk was clever and gripping. My only explanation is that it was written ten yours later by a more experienced writer. Even the illustrations (by a different artist) are far superior in Turk. Of the Lassie Come-Home genre, Turk is about a dog that is taken away from his home in the Borders of Scotland and finds his way back again, having many adventures on the way. This is a good book, well worth the read. Turk has character and depth, and you will like him.… (mere)
