Günther Feuereißen

A booklet of postcards produced in the middle 1980s, when the East German authorities suddenly decided that the narrow-gauge network in the Harz was worth promoting as a tourist attraction in its own right. These eight postcards are from photographs taken by the German railway photographer Günther Feuereißen, and unusually for pictures from the "Ulbrichzeit", sometimes show station areas and freight trains, things that just a few years before were considered to be strategically sensitive. Indeed, given that for a short distance, the line paralleled the internal German border, this level of publicity is even more surprising.… (mere)
